I bought the first book around Christmas time (2007) and started out doing that. Then I got on the low carb forums and read about how many people were doing much more restrictive low carb diets such as Atkins so I started leaning more towards that way. I find myself having more cravings this way though, so I think the Schwarzbein Principle way is a much more balance way of eating and way of life, one that you can actually stick to and not even feel like you're dieting or being deprived. I'm a registered nurse and believe the SP diet is a very rounded out and healthy diet. I'm very glad to find this particular support group because when you read the other groups forums you feel like a cheat or failure because going totally no carb/very low carb for me just isn't realistic or even desirable.

I have finished reading Schwarzbein I this morning.

Sadly enough, I do NOT feel convinced.
I am doing Atkins at the moment and feel very well and am losing weight nicely.

At one stage in Atkins diet you also get to 60 carbs daily. So, I do not truly see much difference in both diets, with the exception that Schwarzbein adds a few things which seem self-evident to me anyway (I am referring to the stress management, the stimulants, the exercise and the - if necessary - hormone replacement).

It's a bit of a shame that I have spent rather a lot of money on the 4 books. Well, I suppose at least the cook book is not useless. There are some nice recipes in it that I can apply to Atkins diet also.

If anyone is unsure of how to add these links, PM me with the title of the thread (or specific post) and I will add them to this thread.
The most confusing part about SP is that she has 2 books which, in my opinion, are very different. The first book addresses Insulin Resistance whereas the second book addresses the triad of the major hormones, adrenaline, cortisol and insulin. Although my preference is SPII, some find it too technical and prefer the simplicity of SPI. However be forewarned that SPI doesn't give the whole picture.

SP is not a low carb program. It is a moderate carb, moderate fat and moderate protein diet. The key is balance.

The following links should give a pretty clear understanding of SP.
The Schwarzbein Principle Site - select the "email us" link at the bottom of her homepage to send questions. I find the shorter the question, the quicker the reply.
The Tests

SPI:
Low Carb Plans: The Schwarzbein Principle

SPI vs. SPII:
What Kind of Schwarzbein are you? I or II?
Book 1 and Book 2
On Saturated Fats - SPII

SPII:
SPII Programs
Insulin Resistant or Sensitive?
Basic Diet

Not SP, but related - Burned Out Adrenals (Adrenal Fatigue):
Adrenal Questionnaire
Home Tests for Adrenal Fatigue
Metabolic Scorecard
AdrenalFatigue.org

This is by no means a substitution for reading the book, but it's a start for people to understand what the plan is about.

my adrenal test came back a 10
